Users can now read from and write to the radio
during the same session.
The serial port will be opened and configured only
when required to communicate with the radio.
Previous versions of
tk120
opened the serial port when the program started.
Main window will appear on top of other windows when the program
first starts.
Fixed a bug which occurred when a user tries to save
the template before opening a template or reading from the radio.
Version 1.1
December 2, 2002
Memory bank channels may now be edited within tk120.
Channels may be changed, deleted, inserted, or swapped with adjacent
channels.
More comprehensive changes can be made by
exporting the channels to a CSV file, then
using a text editor or spreadsheet program.
When the mode for a memory channel imported from a CSV file is
not specified, tk120 will set
the mode according to the Auto Band plan.
Version 1.0
October 31, 2002
New controls for VFO, Memory, and Dual Watch
scan resume selection of busy, pause, and hold.
Duplicate frequency check.
Version 0.9
October 10, 2002
Added a Sort command
in the Data menu to sort memory channels by
frequency or by label within any bank or within all banks.
Added a command under the Data menu to clear all memory
channels.
This is useful before importing a memory channel CSV file
if you want to override the current channels instead of
merging the channels in the file with the current channels.
Version 0.8
September 26, 2002
This version of tk120 reads the radio version information
directly from the radio, saves
it in the .tk120rc (or t120.ini) file, and uses it when writing
back to the radio, independent of
what the user identifies as the version.
Added warnings about 1001 - 1002 and
1009 - 1010 MHz blocked frequencies for the USA version.
Version 0.7
September 3, 2002
Added warning about 474 - 475 MHz blocked frequencies
for the USA version.
Added bandstacking memory frequency and mode controls.
Bandstacking memory frequencies are validated to make
sure they are within the corresponding band.
Fixed bug which prevented changes to bit flags 1A14 Bit 0 and
1A14 Bit 1 from updating the memory image.
Version 0.6
August 13, 2002
Fixed bug in the Flex Step logic.
Users can now change the band edge frequencies.
These frequencies delimit the band edges
used with the radio's bandstacking registers in VFO mode
so the radio remembers the last VFO frequency used
within each band.
Added new Smart Search single/continue, attenuator,
and keypad lock controls.
Added VFO frequency and mode controls.
Added another Dual Watch bank (A--, b--, now corresponds
to DW bank 8).
Added another Limit Search bank (L-- now corresponds
to Limit Search bank 8).
Memory channel import from a .csv file now tolerates lines
with missing trailing fields (i.e., too few commas).
Added control over several flags in the Experimental Tweaks
applet.
You can change them and observe the effect on radio
behavior.
The effect, if any, of these settings
on radio operation is unknown.
Change them at your own risk.
Version 0.5
August 3, 2002
Divided the VFO Settings into a new, separate window.
Added dozens of
new controls, including
widgets to select Bank Scan or Scan All Memories.
Added individual scan bank link controls.
Added controls to select Internal Bar AM antenna,
Earphone SW/VHF/UHF antenna,
keyboard beep,
S-Meter beep alarm,
S-Meter sensitivity,
Battery Save interval,
and Scan Resume time.
Added Set Menu Item widget, which determines
which menu the radio will be positioned.
This permits access to a hidden menu 26, named
"USER P" (user port?).
User will be warned and prevented from reading from
and writing to the radio during the same session.
This avoids the problem of the radio refusing to accept
data if the software has previously read from the radio
earlier in the same session.
Added more balloon help messages.
Version 0.4
June 13, 2002
Added support for Japanese version radios.
With this version,
tk120 can write data to USA, Export, and Japanese
version VR-120 radios.
Changed upper frequency limit checking from 1600 to 1300 MHz.
Changed the installation instructions to mandate specific
directories for installation on Windows.
This new installation procedure should work the same
for Windows XP, ME, and 98.
Added a tk120.bat file for Windows systems.
Users will run the tk120.bat file to start tk120.
Removed "dead" code for channel visibility flags
left over from the tk500 program.
Version 0.3
May 5, 2002
tk120 can write data to both USA and European version radios.
tk120 supports the Preferential Scan flag
for each memory channel.
Implemented a Validate Data function.
Implemented Skip channels.
Step sizes
of 9, 15, 20, and 30 kHz are supported.
Cleared memory channels are implemented so the
radio hides them.
Version 0.2
April 27, 2002
tk120 reads a memory image from the radio.
It displays the mode and frequency of the 640 memory channels,
but the Preferential flag is not implemented yet.
It displays the Search Limits, Dual Watch, Preset memories,
and Band Plan.
It displays the 3 Smart Search frequencies.
The Skip channels and
other operation settings are not implemented yet.
tk120 cannot write data to the radio yet.
I do know how the VR-120 represents step sizes
of 9, 15, 20, and 30 kHz.
Version 0.1
April 24, 2002
Initial release.
I have no VR-120 and need people to try using
tk120 to read from their radio and provide
feedback.
